Here is a list of Amsterdam museums and landmarks you have to see!
Van Gogh Museum
The Van Gogh Museum is a museum dedicated to the famous Dutch artist, where visitors can see his paintings, drawings, letters, and art made by artists he inspired. One of the highlights is “Sunflowers”, one of a series of paintings of sunflowers, and “The Potato Eaters”, a gloomy painting that depicts people eating at a table and represents the difficulty of living in the countryside. Vincent Van Gogh was greatly inspired by nature, so you can see his famous “Almond Blossom” and his self-portraits. Other highlights include “The Bedroom”, a painting with a seemingly incorrect perspective. The actual bedroom had a skewed corner, too, as it turns out. Van Gogh was also inspired by sowers, and the museum exhibits his painting “The Sower”. The museum is a must-visit location for anyone interested in learning more about Dutch (art) history, as Van Gogh is one of the most famous painters the world has ever seen!

Anne Frank House
Anne Frank was hidden in the Secret Annex for two years during World War II, since July 1942. Her family lived together with the Van Pels family, and they were joined later by Fritz Pfeffer. Before going into hiding, Anne Frank received a diary for her 13th birthday, in which she wrote about her life and created stories while hidden in the Secret Annex. After the Nazis found them, Anne Frank died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945. Her father was the only person from the Secret Annex who survived the war. He published his daughter’s diary and was closely involved with the museum until his death.

Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum exhibits over 8,000 objects, which span around 800 years of Dutch history from 1200. The museum holds Van Gogh’s “Wheat Field” and “View of Amsterdam from Central Station”, which he interestingly painted during his own visit to the Rijksmuseum! So, walk in the steps of Vincent Van Gogh and visit the Rijksmuseum. Other famous paintings include “The Night Watch” by Rembrandt, “The Milkmaid” by Vermeer, and “The Threatened Swan” by Asselijn. The latter depicts a swan defending its nest, and years later, people interpreted it as a metaphor for a Dutch statesman, saying it shows him defending the country. The Rijksmuseum also exhibits art from Asia, such as sculptures from Japan, a collection of armor, and even old board games, so you can see what people did to combat boredom in the past!

Rembrandt House Museum
The Rembrandt House Museum is another Amsterdam tourist attraction you must visit. It is the only museum in the world completely dedicated to the painter, and it is located in the house where he lived for 19 years. He moved into the house in 1639 with his wife, and an interesting fact is that Rembrandt had to move out of this house because he went bankrupt, and the house ended up in an auction. Rembrandt is known for his etchings, and the Rembrandt House Museum has almost all of them. He had his studio in the house, which visitors can see, as it was remodeled after one of his drawings. The museum as a whole was reconstructed because of a document that was made before the sale of the house – an inventory of each room of the house.

A staggering seven million flowers bloom for about eight weeks every Spring, and many people visit to walk around the gardens and take in the beauty of tulips, one of the symbols of the Netherlands.
